Thinking about buying a condo:

As a condo owner you will own your own unit and own as a group with the other condo owners the common areas.  There will be a Condo Association with dues that cover the maintenance and insurance for the common areas.  Condos are usually more affordable then a home and much less maintenance since you do not have to care for the outside of the unit or grounds.

Condo Communities usually collect a monthly fee that is over and above the monthly maintenance fees that will go into a reserve to help pay for the possibility of future major repairs, i.e. roof.   Part of the monthly fees may also go toward utilities. Be sure to check with the Condo association so you know what the monthly fees will cover.

The sense of community in a condo and the security of having close neighbors are additional pluses to living the condo life.  Usually condominiums are located in convenient areas and close to shopping.
