Once a Ranch

Fair Oaks Ranch boasts a rich history, evolving from vast land parcels acquired by oilman Ralph Fair, Sr. in the 1930s. Initially a bustling working ranch with a dairy, granary, and a renowned racehorse operation, it later pioneered a cutting-edge Hereford cattle program. The ranch even developed its own Hereford bloodline from the famous bull, Battle Intense, whose legacy is celebrated annually at a golf tournament bearing his name.

Through the Years: The Development of a Cherished Community

After the passing of Mr. and Mrs. Fair, their family envisioned a residential community, developing a portion of the ranch in 1975. A pivotal moment came in 1978 when the sprawling 14,000 sq. ft. Fair home was transformed into a country club, which remains a central hub for social activity on “The Ranch” to this day. Under the leadership of founding fathers like Boots Gaubatz, Bob Herring, and Don King, the very active Fair Oaks Ranch Homeowners Association (FORHA) pursued incorporation.
